About R. E. Lee & Son, Inc.
Founded in 1939, R. E. Lee & Son, Inc., has earned its reputation as the most respected builder and provider of construction services in Central Virginia. Our founders dedicated themselves to the construction and restoration of fine and historic homes in Charlottesville and the surrounding area. Many of the most recognizable estates in Central Virginia were crafted under their direction and we are proud of the company’s many early accomplishments.
Today, R. E. Lee & Son’s building résumé includes new construction and renovation of commercial, mixed use and specialty facilities. We are also experienced in the construction of estate homes of exceptional scale, quality and complexity. No matter how many high performance buildings we deliver, we never forget that our success depends on the relationships we build with our clients. We ask and listen carefully to understand our client’s needs before using our extensive experience and construction know-how to offer individualized service tailored to fit every project.
R. E. Lee & Son provides a full range of construction services from project conception to final completion and long after the warranty expires. An overwhelming majority of our projects are done in partnership with the owner and architect where Lee is selected as the construction partner on their project team. We perform General Contracting on a negotiated or competitive bid basis offering Stipulated Sum or Cost Plus Fee contracts. We provide Construction Management at Risk in an open book format. We offer Design-Build as a single source responsibility for both design and construction. Our experience with Pre-Construction Services is extensive including budget development and professional estimates, project planning and scheduling, constructability analysis, document review and Value Management.
