About R. E. Lee & Son, Inc.

R. E. Lee & Son was founded in Charlottesville, Virginia in 1939 with a commitment to provide the highest level of construction services. In the mid 1950’s, we began work in the commercial and industrial fields, growing steadily, building larger, more diverse and complex projects. Today, our success can be measured by the enduring quality of our projects and the confidence placed in us by our clients. We are recognized leaders in the building industry, providing sound management, high standards of craftsmanship, on-schedule production, within-budget performance, and reliability and responsibility to the client.

R. E. Lee & Son provides a full range of construction services from project conception to final completion through warranty. A large majority of our projects are done in partnership with the owner and architect where Lee is selected as the construction partner on their project team. We perform General Contracting on a negotiated or competitive bid basis offering Stipulated Sum or Cost Plus Fee contracts. We provide Construction Management at risk in an open book format. We offer Design-Build as a single source responsibility for both design and construction. Our experience with Pre-Construction Services is extensive including budget development and professional estimates, project planning and scheduling, constructability analysis, document review and Value Management.

R. E. Lee & Son’s building resume includes new construction and renovation of commercial, mixed use and specialty facilities. We also specialize in the construction of estate homes of exceptional scale, quality and complexity.

Since R. E. Lee & Son sells services, not products, it’s our people that make us the best in the industry. Our management team includes three Professional Engineers, nine Engineering and Construction Management Degrees, three Certified Professional Constructors, two Masters of Business Administration, two Masters in Engineering, a Certified Public Accountant, and a LEED Certified Professional. At Lee, we work as a team to develop solid working relationships with the clients, designers, subcontractors and suppliers.
