Method of Compensation -Weekly Salary with Annual Review + discretionary bonus
Work Schedule - 7:00 am to 3:30 pm with ½ hour for lunch. Work as required to meet project schedule and workload.
Working Conditions - Driving to various jobsites and moving around jobsites in all phases of construction. Required to talk, sit, stand, stoop, bend, reach, lift and walk.
Reports to - General Superintendent
Position Description
The Jobsite Superintendent is directly responsible for daily activities on the jobsite.
Key Responsibilities
- Time Keeping and Payroll - sign in/out each employee and contract laborer each morning/evening and keep track of employees who are absent, tardy or who leave early.
- Fill out daily job reports and recording weather conditions, labor activities, accidents, delays, etc.
- Schedule and manage crews to complete the jobsite work requirements within or below the estimated cost (PPD Employees and Contract Labor). Scheduling of crews will be coordinated with the General Superintendent and Project Manager.
- Coordination with the General Contractor or Construction Manager, including attending regularly scheduled meetings, pre-planning of upcoming work and making sure areas are ready for PPD to work in.
- Enforcing Safety rules and regulations of PVCC, OSHA and General Contractor/Construction Manager.
- Layout and control of PPD work to assure it meets contract requirements.
- Call for material orders with suppliers from pre-issued purchase orders for bulk material deliveries.
- Work with Project Coordinator for miscellaneous small tools and materials for job. Project Coordinator will get purchase order and order material requested by Superintendent.
- Daily Tickets and Extra Work - write extra work tickets for changes in scope. Extra work tickets must be signed by the General Contractor/Construction Manager for work performed. All tickets must include all labor and materials required to perform the extra work, plus supervision.
- Assist Jobsite Foreman with layout and field issues, and/or coordination issues with sub-contractors
- Assist GM with billing assessments for PPD’s work and PPD’s sub-contractors to assure accurate billings.
- Evaluate manpower performance for PPD employees and contract labor to assure labor estimates are met and workers are earning their wages. If production rates are not being met then take corrective action immediately, and review with General Superintendent and General Manager.
- Has the authority to hire and fire all contract employees. Has the authority to discipline PPD hourly employees according to company policy. May recommend to Gen Superintendent on hiring and firing of hourly personnel.
- Confirm PPD’s and PPD’s sub-contractors adherence to project specifications and proper installation of work. Help guide and assist Jobsite Foreman to keep from tearing out work or re-doing work.
- Oversee quality control - evaluate the quality of work put in place during site visits and take immediate action if work does not meet PPD Standard of Quality.
- Develop and train mechanics to improve their skills and prepare for promotion within the company.
- May have to work with their tools as work load and project schedule requires.
- Other duties as assigned. May be assigned supporting role under another Superintendent as work load requires.
